Optilast Eye Drops solution contains the active ingredient Azelastine hydrochloride 0.05% that prevents and relieves your eyes from irritation caused by hay fever or other allergies. This is sometimes referred to as allergic conjunctivitis.
Optilast Eye Drops works by blocking a substance called histamine from forming and acting on the eyes during an allergic reaction. Histamine causes the unpleasant itchy, red watery eyes and therefore, these drops help prevent these symptoms.
Optilast Eye Drops should be applied twice a day for the period prescribed.

It should be applied as follows
(1) Wash your hands and clean around your eyes with a tissue to remove any moisture.
(2) Unscrew the bottle and remove the dropper ensuring it is clean.
(3)  Carefully places one drop of solution into the middle of your lower eyelid. Try as much as possible to avoid touching the eyes.
(4) When applying the eye drop, press the inner corner of the eye towards the bridge of your nose to help keep the solution in place. Blink a few times to help spread the solution across the eye surface.
(5) Any excess solution can be wiped with a clean tissue.
(6) Repeat the same in the other eye.
Optilast Eye Drops is one of the most effective treatments for allergic conjunctivitis. It is found to be more effective if you start using it before you are exposed to the allergen such as grass pollen.
Like all medicines, using Optilast Eye Drops can cause potential side effects but these may not necessarily be experienced. These include slight irritation of the eye (short-lived) or a bitter taste in the mouth on applying.
Some medicines are not suitable for people with certain conditions or on particular medicines. For this reason, it is very important you declare your full medical history to our Click Doctors via our online consultations so that a proper judgement can be made on its safety.
