Fexofenadine 120mg Film-Coated Tablets

Fexofenadine is an antihistamine medicine that helps with the symptoms of allergies. It can be used to treat hay fever, eczema, hives (urticaria), allergic reaction to insect bites/ stings and some food allergies.

Fexofenadine is known as a non-drowsy antihistamine. It is less likely to make you feel sleepy than some other antihistamines.

The active ingredient Fexofenadine works by blocking a substance called histamine from forming and acting on the body during an allergic reaction. This causes unpleasant symptoms including itchiness, watery eyes, a runny or blocked nose, sneezing and skin rashes.

One tablet a day is swallowed whole with water before a meal if possible.

Fexofenadine is a very effective way of treating the symptoms of hay fever. While it can assist in treating your allergy symptoms, it will not treat the underlying cause, which is an allergy.
Avoid apple and orange juice when taking Fexofenadine since it reduces the effectiveness of the tablet.

Like all medicines, taking Fexofenadine can cause potential side effects but these may not necessarily be experienced. These include nausea, dizziness, feeling sleepy, headaches and dry mouth.

Do not take Fexofenadine:

• If you are allergic to its active ingredient or any other of its ingredients.
• If there is a chance of pregnancy (unless advised by doctor)
• If you are breastfeeding

If you develop signs of a serious allergic reaction to include a skin rash that may be itchy, red, swollen or peeling skins, wheeziness, chest tightness, trouble with breathing or swelling of mouth, lips, face tongue or throat, you must go to your nearest A&E or call 999 immediately.
