Genital warts is a common sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). This is passed on through vaginal, anal and, on some occasions, oral sex.
The following symptoms are commonly seen:
- 1 or more painless lumps around your vagina, penis, anus
- Itching or bleeding from your genitals or anus
- A change to your normal flow of pee (for example, sideways) that does not go away.
- A sexual partner who has genital warts even if you have no symptoms
Our Click Doctors offer a cream or liquid medicine called Warticon. This contains the active ingredient Podophyllotoxin. This is applied to the warts for a period of a few weeks and attacks the HPV virus. Other treatments available like Aldara Cream is also effective for warts and acts as an immune response modifier so is better at preventing recurrence. This can sometimes take longer to work.
